    Frequently asked questions

First, I listen to what they would like to learn while detecting their current level of expertise.  Then I suggest what they can study with my guidance & various other learning resources for them.  Then we follow that path we mutually agreed upon making adjustments as necessary along the way to assure they achieve their learning goals.

I have a Masters Degree in Optical Engineering & over 13 years running a photography business.

I charge $50/lesson.  If there is more than one student, the total is the same & I divide the cost among the students up to 3 at a time to allow for personal attention to each.

I tailor the lesson to exactly what the particular student needs as expressed in our initial no cost interview.  Students can ask questions along the way as they come to mind.  I also recommend the best book I know of  on lighting.  It's very easy to read  & covers almost any lighting situation.

I started out by helping members of the St. Louis Artists' Guild Photography section, where I was chairman.  I also had a meetup site  where I would lead Photoshop & Lightroom practical techniques exchange.  I also taught photography to disadvantaged students for Art Dimensions.

Any level from beginner to advanced.  I prefer to work 1 to 1 or 1 to 2 so I can tailor the lessons to the students exact level & needs.

Find someone who will teach exactly what you need to improve from your current level.  Check out their work & references.

What do you want to accomplish photographically.  Examples are:  learn basic camera operations, learn composition, learn lighting, learn how to really see, learn Lightroom  image processing, learn Photoshop image post processing, etc.
