Greg is an extremely knowledgeable and brilliant educator. He knows so much not only about jazz music, but also the craft and aesthetics of writing ensemble music. I thoroughly recommend him for any of jazz music.

He was a great mentor to me during my undergraduate studies at the U of Northern Colorado and has been a continual source of inspiration in the five years that I have known him. As a private instructor he is punctual, creative, passionate, and highly knowledgeable. He can guide you or your student in learning a wide range of genres and styles and support their growth with the knowledge of theory, ear training, composition, and much more. His accomplishments are numerous, and his experience has made him into one of the best musicians I know.

He was a very thorough teacher; he made sure I knew what I was talking about/writing before I finished a song. Very knowledgeable about a lot of different aspects of music, and very enjoyable to work with.

I brought in a variety of original music to Greg, from pop songs to nonfunctional harmony/modal jazz pieces and I found that Greg met we where I was at in my lessons. He gave me a variety of options to add to or change my music and made sure I understood the theory of what he suggested. I never felt pressured or judged when writing anything and gained valuable and helpful perspective.

Greg is a brilliant composer and he knows how to talk about it. He offered insights on creative choices in my songwriting, as well as technical adjustments that helped to communicate exactly what I was trying to get across.
