About
I am a master artist mentored by Kevin Macpherson, Carolyn Anderson, George Gallo, Larry Doud, and Joe Anna Arnett.
I have been passionately studying art since 1992, resigning from Proctor & Gamble to work future time painting, instruction, and writing. Before moving to Asheville, NC, I taught oil painting and drawing at the Middletown Arts Center. My students there enjoy a casual learning experience working on subjects they wanted to paint. Exploration of value, line, composition, color relationships/theory/harmony, and edges were our focus. I teach art in a way that allows you to find your own voice and style, focusing on foundational techniques versus expecting a student to paint like someone else. I love teaching all levels of experience and enjoy artful conversations as we explore our journeys.
I am a multi-time award-winning artist, writer, and podcaster. You can see my work at www.LindaFisler.com
I love watching my students grow! I love seeing their confidence grow as we explore the different techniques and when they realize they can find the mistakes and more importantly correct them. It is all about the journey!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We spend two hours a week painting subjects the student wants to paint. In those two hours, a lesson is also prepared for the student to help in areas where the student has an interest in gaining expertise. There are times when I will demonstrate painting techniques and times the student will paint with me or alone. The focus is on student learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Lesson taken at Middletown Arts Center from 1992 until 2005. I later returned to teach at this art center.
2005 to 2008 Mentored by/work for Kevin Macpherson, internationally know master representational artist. Assisted with instruction during workshops and via the internet with Artist Mentors Online (one of the first websites that provided oil painting lessons and critiques via the web.)
2005 to 2019 Instructor of oil painting and drawing at Middletown Arts Center
2007 to present-Mentored by Carolyn Anderson (master, internationally known aritst)
2007 to present--Mentored by George Gallo (master artist, screenwriter, director, producer)
The mentoring is more a friendship now than when we originally started. Today, we discuss more about art and technique versus having actual critique or lessons. Through my podcasts, I have contacts to many master artists. If I don't know the answer, I can find it by asking my associate master artist friends.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
