Ms. Cotton is a master not only of materials, technique, and supporting artistic visioning, but also focuses on empowering learners of all ages, at every stage of the creative process. Participants in Ms. Cottons classes leave inspired to create from a place within themselves that is nurtured and brought to light through her personal, unparalleled approach to arts education. It is truly a trans-formative experience to watch Ms. Cotton teach, or better yet, be the recipient of her dynamic teaching expertise.

Cleasters work with teens is warm, respectful, engaging, and both encouraging and unapologetic. For example, she invites participants into better painting skills as a means to better serve their vision. Too often, teaching artists dont have a handle on how to give feedback for this age group. The teens in our program were challenged and excited to be working with an artist who is walking her walk and so thoughtful about sharing her own process and inspirations.
I also found Cleaster to be incredibly organized and prompt about the logistics of setting up and finishing out the residency .

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process varies depending on the needs and experience of my students. Here is one method:
I share my artwork and my creative sensibilities with my students and we talk.
I provide my students with materials and supplies... and demonstrate a variety of art-making tools... and we communicate.
I support my students and guide them on an exciting journey as they discover their unique creative identity.
Thank you.
C. Cotton
