About
The Flood Gallery Fine Art Center is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to promoting the arts in Asheville through the exhibition of established and emerging artists from all over the world. Through artist-residency programs, public events and workshops, and educational activities, Flood Gallery seeks to make art a vital and important part of life in Asheville.
Flood Gallery Fine Art Center programming is made possible through the generous support of the Dan Lucas Memorial Fund of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina.
Located in Black Mountain NC, just east of Asheville, the nonprofit Flood Gallery and Fine Arts Center also is the home of the Black Mountain Press that publishes novels, poetry collections, and short stories and is the publisher of two literary magazines: The Halcyone and HerWords. It's great to help people become better writers and artists. Seeing students progress and get better every week is wonderful to be part of.
All of our instructors are professionals in their fields with BFA or MFA degrees and teaching experience at the University level.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Understand what it is you want to learn and be able to articulate that to the instructor.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They need to do an honest evaluation of their skill set and where they would like to go from there.
