(1) In 2023, I received two 11th. Graders who decided they wanted to play competitively in high school at the varsity level. One girls and one boy, each had not played on any competitively organized team. In one year, each of these individuals were selected and made their high school varsity basketball teams for the 2023-2024 season. Most high school varsity basketball coaches are not interested in first year seniors with no prior playing experience. (Special Note): Our female basketball trainees was also selected "Providence High School Female Athlete of The Year 2023-2024". This student-athlete was also awarded a basketball scholarship to play at Montreat College. (2) I received a trainee who decided in the 10th grade that he wanted to begin playing basketball competitively. He had never played on any organized team. In one year of fundamental basketball skill training with me, he made the varsity boy's basketball team at Victory Christian Center High School. Victory Christian Center High School in a nationally recognized basketball program.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Please find a trainer that understands basketball training is comprised of more than running, dribbling and shooting.
Basketball player development is a process that takes time, consistency, energy and effort. Players and parents must understand skill development is a process and must understand the financial ramification necessary to make that happen. What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
That is up to the individual.
