About
Charlotte Magazine, recently named Yes I Can Basketball to their 2017 prestigious "Best Of The Best" awards - for being the best youth basketball program in the Charlotte area.
It's no secret, Yes I Can Basketball is Charlotte’s most popular youth basketball program. It offers year round programs in the form of challenging training academies, competitive leagues and popular camps. All programs are held in clean, safe, conveniently located gyms; all at an affordable price! It’s a place where boys and girls come to receive plenty of “perspiration and inspiration.”
Founded and directed by former college basketball head coach Dan McGovern, Yes I Can Basketball has been serving the youth of Charlotte since 1997. “If you’re searching for AAU or recreation basketball, you’ll be disappointed in our program.” said McGovern “That’s not who we are. Our focus is on improving the player not the team. Our programs are popular because we’ve had the sense to listen to what parents and players value.
Yes I Can Basketball staff members are paid trained professionals that boast impressive basketball backgrounds. They pass extensive background checks and have the ability to teach, motivate, and breathe life into young players “Our staff members are more like youth ministers that have had way too much caffeine! Although we’re not classified as faith based, players receive a steady diet of motivational messages in our gyms.”

McGovern simply finds joy in seeing his young students improve. But that often comes from his abiltiy to motivate! He was inducted in the Barton County Community College Hall Of Fame as the all time winningest coach in the history of the college. He was named College and High School Coach Of The Year in his tenure.
Four of Coach McGovern's former players played in the NBA. There are coaches - and then there are teachers of the game.
McGovern is a master teacher.
His staff is impressive - they're all former college players that are able to "click" with young players.
