Charlotte Drawing And Painting Classes
About
My classes are customized based on the needs of the student! I am completely flexible and can teach in a traditional (by the book way), focusing on fundamentals, and core skills, or we can focus on critique, ongoing projects, and medium mastery, or some kind of combination of all of the above!
I also offer a complimentary initial video chat, where we can get to know one another and make sure the classes will be a good fit for you!
I enjoy sharing what I know about art. In particular, having been a freelance artist for 8 years I enjoy sharing the stuff I wish I had known when I was starting out!
Example: Having a wide variety of line widths will make any piece of lineart 100% better, I wish someone had told me that when I was learning line art!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I don't have a typical process. Although I do have a lot of different lesson styles. For me the process is all about tailoring the lessons to meet the student's specific needs. We can go over all of this in a complimentary introductory chat.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration, received from Columbus College of Art and Design.
I also have 8 years of experience as a freelance artist, which has taught me far more than what I learned in the 4 years at college.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing will be dependent on length of lessons, how many lessons per week, and if there is travel involved.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would say the one main question you should have prepared is what you are looking to learn/gain, the field of art is so huge, so many different styles, mediums, and areas of expertise! Are you looking to start with the basics? Do you want to learn a bit of theory first (gestalt principles)? Or do you want to jump into practical mastery of a specific style/medium (like drawing, pen drawing, colored pencil, etc.)?
