About this pro

I offer photography and science sessions. I am a certified science teacher and own a photography business on the side. I have been a photographer for 11 years and a science teacher for over 14 years now, so I decided to take my two passions.....photography and teaching...and combine them. I love what I do and I create joyful learning experiences for my students. My number one motto is that there is no such thing as a stupid questions so you can always feel comfortable in asking me anything! I have taught thousands of students over the past 14 years and that experience has made me a better teacher.

My passions are teaching, photography and science! Tutoring is how I've combined all three. I enjoy working with students and watching them grow in their knowlegde of the subject we are focusing on, whether that be science or photography.

I always develop a friendly rapport with my students, so they are comfortable asking questions and learning the most from our sessions. Many of my photography students now lead their own photography studios successfully. Many of my science students have become doctors, paleontologists, zoologists and scientists. I am right here cheering them on as they make progress into careers they love! I hope you will become one of my successful students and I can help you find the path to a rewarding career.

Larisa was so easy to understand and learn from. She simplified concepts that seemed very complicated. I’m so thankful that I learned as much as I did in such a small amount of time!

Larisa is a great teacher. We had a class of students with varying abilities and she was able to keep everyone engaged, whether they had just gotten a camera or had been taking photos for years.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I begin every interaction with new students with some questions about them and what their goals are for our session. I want to know their reasons for learning the subject, which helps me to get to know them better to customize a lesson.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been a certified science teacher for over 14 years and a photographer for 11 years. I have taught thousands of students over this period of time.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My standard base price is $50 per hour for in-person lessons and $40 per hour for Zoom lessons. Discounts will be given to students who want more than a single lesson.

How did you get started teaching?

I've always been a natural teacher and it happens to be in my DNA too! My father and grandmother were both teachers.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with students from 12 years old and older. I work with anyone who wants to learn more about photography or science in a stress-free and no judgement zone.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

My daughter just turned 10 and it was a big celebration!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Ask them how much experience they have in teaching that subject and what their philosophy is about education. This will help you determine if they are the type of teacher for your learning style.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

How much experience do you have as a teacher?

How much does each lesson cost? Is there a discount for meeting more times or is it a standard rate?

How much experience do you have with (your learning style) students?
