Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With new students I like to get as much initial information as to what they are looking to get from hiring a trainer. Then the first workout is designed around their needs AND to evaluate any other areas to work on. After the first workout I like to then give feedback about what I see and give recommendations. I design each workout with their improvement goals in mind. I like to keep stats to show progress and use video to give immediate feedback as well.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Excercise Science and Sports Management. I also have 17 total years of coaching experience covering every level from WNBA to middle school working with both girls and boys basketball.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Each session is 60 min in length.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching/coaching basketball at my local YMCA for biddie basketball because they were short on coaches so I volunteered and fell in love with it immediately.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with beginning players all the way to experienced Division I and II players helping them prepare for pro combines.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that is interested in helping you reach your goals. One that is going to push you and always be honest with you and not just tell you what you want to hear. Make sure that if you cannot meet with them in person that you at least talk with them and ask as many questions as you need to in order to be comfortable.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What can this coach do for me to help me get better? Is this person going to push me to get better and not let me give in when I'm getting tired. Does this coach/teacher really care about me and my future or am I just another good player that they can say they worked with?
