I taught myself how to play guitar for over a year, until I reached a point where I needed a teacher to increase my abilities. Chris from Overtone Music has been a phenomenal guitar teacher. He corrected my bad habits, and moved my guitar playing abilities well beyond where I thought I’d ever get. I feel like I’m an actual guitarist! His song choices are hand picked to develop specific skills and is able to adapt to personal preferences. He provides excellent nuggets of information throughout each lesson that help increase playing abilities and encourages you to push yourself. He adds the right amount of guitar theory too. I highly recommend contacting Chris at Overtone Music if you want to learn or increase your guitar skills! 5/5 stars!

OverTone Musics Chris Bodall is a fantastic teacher, Ive been seeing Chris for many years for guitar lessons, sound engineering and recording. As a teacher he is very intuitive at keeping the pace with me. If I need help in a certain section he slows down and teaches in a way I can understand. On the flip side, if he sees something is a bit too easy for me hell add challenging flairs to the piece of mudic we are playing. 10/10 satisfaction!

I recently took a series of bass guitar/bass ukulele lessons from Chris Bodall/OverTone Music and learned a ton over just a few lessons. As a former gigging percussionist and music theory minor in college, I was looking for a teacher who could meet me at my existing level of music experience, and Chris did exactly that. The bass is the first stringed instrument Ive ever picked up, and Chris taught me a bunch of helpful exercises to improve my technique and knowledge of the fret board. Would absolutely recommend Chris/OverTone Music to others seeking to learn bass uke or bass guitar, as well as those just starting on their journey towards being a musician. Being a versatile recording engineer, Chris also brings a wealth of knowledge about audio gear and all thats needed to set up your own music studio at home.

    Frequently asked questions

Find out what they want to accomplish on the instrument and what kind of music they are into.

    I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music.

Lessons are $25 per half hour.

After taking 2 years of lessons as a teen, I discovered I had a passion for teaching and started teaching other kids around the neighborhood. This grew into a business.

I've worked with students ages 5 to 65, including the visually impared and developmentally disabled.

Recently, I described to a student how notes, chords, and keys work together to connect all of music together. They had their first "aha!" moment. I live for that.

What they want to learn and how much time they have to practice.
