Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lesson rates vary based on in studio lessons, in home lessons or online lessons. Lesson rates are also based on 30 minute or 60 minute sessions. Group lesson discounts are available.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching since 1990 owning guitar schools in Cincinnati, Dallas and Raleigh. As a guitar instructor, I have taught thousands of students of all ages and experience levels.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have had students with absolutely no previous experience and students that have come from other local guitar instructors looking for advanced lessons. All of my students have enriched their lives with guitar lessons. Some are hobbyists, some have recieved scholarships for collegiate guitar programs and some make a living as a professional guitarists.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A fond memory is receiving word that one of my students received a full scholarship to The New England Conservatory of Music. This student started with me at age 8.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that has many years of experience teaching all levels of guitarists. A teacher ideally would be relatable, courteous, prompt and have ample performance experience.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
A) Does the instructor have a plan...are the lessons tailored to each student.
B) Does the instructor value my musical preferences.
C) Are there opportunites for performance.
D) What teahing materials are provided.
