COVID Update:

Hello all! I have chosen to move my one-on-one art lessons to a virtual platform for the foreseeable future. All art lessons will be conducted via Zoom Meetings once or twice weekly.

I offer intimate one-on-one art lessons in ink/graphite drawing, acrylic painting, and mixed media in various subject matter. As a full-time artist, my hours are flexible to match your scheduling needs.

Often, our sessions consist of mentorship and guidance on projects YOU want to work on. Our first session will be a sit-down meeting to discuss details of the 1. medium you would like to learn, 2. subject matter (or lack of) that you are interested in creating, and 3. your scheduling needs. I will follow this up with a personal and curated lesson plan/syllabus.

We can meet bi-weekly, weekly, multiple days a week, etc.

I love how fluid art can be! I love that I was trained in realism but ended up finding my voice and finding life in non-representative abstract paintings!

I love that my audience and students can benefit from art. Taking art lessons isn't always about becoming a world famous artist. Having a creative outlet in your life can make you a better parent, worker, life partner, dancer, etc (whatever your actual passion is).

Nicole knows how to make crafting fun! Her class was like going to a party, meeting new friends, and coming out with an awesome plant hanger that you’d find at an expensive boutique.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

We begin our conversation through Lessons.com or through personal email.

We select a day of the week and hour of the week to meet. Your first session is a free, complimentary meeting to discuss details of your lessons. We will leave the first session with a Syllabus or Lesson Plan to move forward with.

The Syllabus or Lesson Plan is open to adjustments. These lessons and sessions are made for you! Everything is flexible, these lesson plans just help us have an understanding of what you are looking for in your lessons.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

16+ Years | Painting & Drawing Experience

4 Years | Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (Young Harris College, GA)

9+ Years | Customer Service

4+ Years | Instructing Youth & Adult Art Classes

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

1 hour sessions once a week or twice a week.

Each 1 hour session is priced:

$25 - Youth (4 yr - 13 yr)

$40 - Adult (13 yr +)

How did you get started teaching?

I started Art Instructin when I first moved to Raleigh (2016). My first job in the area was for a sip and paint company and I leanred how to teach all levels of artist step by step paintings (often times, the student had no experience at all).

In 2019, I was able to move into my own art space and begin offering personal and group art classes & workshops.

What types of students have you worked with?

I've worked with beginner, intermediate, and expert students -- students in any stage of their art career / lessons.

Youth ages (4 yr - 10 yr)

Teen ages (10 yr - 18 yr)

Adult ages (18 yr - 70 yr)

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

It all starts with a conversation! A conversation doesn't necessarily mean you are required to now take classes with an art teacher. The conversation just helps you to see if you are a good fit with the teacher's teaching syles and personality. Without that conversation, we wouldn't know where to start. It all develops from there.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

1. What kind of art medium (materials - paint, charcoal, graphite, watercolor, collage, a mix, etc) are you most interested in?

2. Are there any specific subject matter that you are interested in? Or any specific subject matter you would like to avoid?

3. What kind of schedule would you like to have? Bi-weekly (every two weeks), weekly, multiple times a week, etc.

4. Are you able to provide your own materials or would you rather those be provided for you?
