About
I'm one of the people who didn't believe that I was "good enough" for many years. I believe that I can help anyone create art that gives them joy, in addition to seeing improvement, and meeting whatever their goals are-- relaxation, more creativity, creating a body of work for their home or gifts, up to and including selling their work.
Especially when I paint, but when creating any art at all, there is a sort of magic in using my skills, improving my knowledge and skills, and teaching my skills and techniques to others just feels right. I believe doing these things - making art, improving my art, and teaching what I know is what I am supposed to be doing.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, it's important to get to know the student, what their goals and past experience in the area of the lessons. It makes no sense to skip basic techniques if the student is a beginner. Conversely, it makes no sense to start with basic material if the student knows this information. A brief review is appropriate, but it's important to move on when it's clear that the student is ready for new knowledge of the subject.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My bachelor's degree is in Art Education from State University of New York at New Paltz. After graduating, my teaching experience has been in volunteer settings with children, adults and seniors in many different settings. Since graduating, I have continued to learn more techniques and use of new materials, and other topics not covered in college in order to improve my art and to enhance my ability to teach the best classes.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $15.00 per hour, including travel time if appropriate.
How did you get started teaching?
That is the degree I obtained.
What types of students have you worked with?
Children (aged 4-12), adults, and seniors.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My favorite classes vary, deam very fond of classes depending upon the activity being learned. I am very fond of the classes I taught at the public library in Fredericksburg, Virginia over a period of 4 years. The students had exciting results and we had a lot of fun.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask about why they like to work in that medium. What is their favorite medium to work in? Tell them what your goal/ timeframeis is, and ask whether they think that is a realistic possibility, .
