About
I enjoy teaching students how to listen to themselves as they create as well as build on technical skills of art making. I'm connected to the creativity community in Winston Salem and can also share resources and connections if students desire to show artwork or just be connected with other local artists.
I love to help folks connect to their creative spirit. We are all born artists and only need to practice the techniques.
Art and being creative is the tool I use to facilitate connections. Connections to ideas. Connections to feelings and connections to the world. The most important connection is the one to self. I realize that people create and learn more about themselves thru the process of art making. I find purpose by helping folks recognize their connections.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First goal is to learn what you want to achieve. Do you want a completed product or do you want to master a technique? My next question is to learn what motivates your desire to create.
My job is not to teach anyone how to "be an artist." We're alive so we are already built for expressing ourselves and creating. My job is to guide folks to trust their Own Voice and Creative Power while using the tools and techniques for making visual art. This goal is Always Achieveable.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in education.
I have teacher assisted 2d design on college level.
I still take classes to push and express my own creative spirit.
I'm actively involved in a professional artist Gallery. That keeps me in a artists community to learn from and get critiques. My learning equates to better teaching.
I have been a working artist all of my life. I have been hired to create commissioned artworks, lead workshops, offer private lessons, and build commercial and custom signs. I have curated small art shows, worked in collaboration with other artists for community projects, sold at craft fairs and etsy.
I have recevied training from the Keenan Institure at UNCSA in their Creative Catalyst Program earning Artist as Leader and Artist as Innovator designation.
I have a lot of patience and a sincere joy for being an artist. I always love sharing time with folks that enjoy all things art.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$40 an hour. Students provide their own materials. I offer a discount if folks want to come with friends. I'm open to hosting workshops for a groups of 5 or more.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching lessons....
because people started asking me to teach them.
What types of students have you worked with?
I'm willing to lead any age group at a beginning or intermediate level.
I can tailor goals for the very young leaning on their current cognitive and fine motor skill set.
I also enjoy teaching adults and exploring technical skills and also the philosophies and history around art.
I'm willing to work with folks who are more technical than me to learn more. There is always room for growth, right?
