Lessons From A Pro
About
I am a 22 year old outfielder in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. I have been giving lessons now for about 7 years to players of all ages. I was a 4 year varsity player previously drafted out of high school in 2018 after leading my high school in all of their batting records for 4 years and being player of south Jersey 2 times. I have been with the Pirates orginization for 5 years now and have been in the top 5 in my org. for home runs and rbis within the past 2 seasons.
The way my lessons work varies from player to player. I try my best to stay away from making every player do the same thing and creating a robot. As I've been around baseball I've noticed that nobody is the same and nobody swings the same. I have gathered different knowledge from every coach and player I have played with and try to use all of that to make the players I give lessons to better. Some of my techniques can be different, as they come from the professional level in which we are trying all different ways to be better than the other teams players and get to the big leagues. All of my coaching methods are adjusted to the age of the player, so they are not overwhelmed with information that is above their years.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start by evaluating their swing in the first lesson, and from there I build a program on what each individual hitter needs. The program can involve mechanical drill work, fixing the thought process behind the swing, how to recognize pitches better and earlier, and different challenges in the cage to make them a better complete hitter.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have played baseball since I have been 3 years old and are now currently in the minor leagues for the past 5 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes. I work at a facility and the price of my lessons are our facility prices. We offere a bunch of different packages and deals, so once we come in contact we can discuss all of your options.
How did you get started teaching?
I was looking for an extra couple dollars in highschool, and it just grew into what now is a passion. I've always loved helping people so enjoy helping the younger baseball generation with the knowledge I have consumed so far.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with a wide range of players. I work with some players who are 6-7 years old all the way up to players who are 21 years old. I work with advanced and beginner level students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My minor league team this year won the championship for our league and it was the first time that specific team has won a championship in 10 years.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who you can connect with and trust. Everyone can claim that they are the best coach, but if you are not comfortable and can trust them then it won't work. It's about what works for the player.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1) what kind of player are you?
2) what kind of instruction are you looking for?
3) what are the things you are really good at and also the things you struggle at?
