About this pro

Everyone that trains at RJS Basketball it's our duty to make sure everyone gets better. I think that's why we have been so successful and we continue to get more business every year because of the results. We also build strong relationships with the individuals we train.  Here at RJS Basketball we are a family for life.

I enjoy every moment of it and it feels like I'm never working. This is how you know you love what you do. Most of all I love seeing the results. Being able to go watch these kids when there in season and seeing them get results from the work we put in brings me joy.

RJS welcomes all skill level, Coach Rickey is extremely encouraging and patient. He is detailed when demonstrating each drill, I have a lot of fun each session.

Rickey does a great job of finding the players weakness and tries to turn them into a strength. My son has been going for a little over a month now, and the improvements have been amazing. But one of the biggest surprises has been the self confidence that he has instilled in my son. I would recommend RJS to anyone.

Training with RJS Basketball has been a great experience. We saw noticeable progress on the court after only a few sessions, and the trainer is knowledgeable and supportive of the players. RJS empowers the players to be confident in their abilities. They are challenged both physically and athletically, which has definiyely paid off during school and travel games.

I like working with RJS mainly because he knows what he’s talking about , he puts us through drills to improve our game. He wants to see us get better, but at the same time he wants us to have fun with it. Any other trainer would just do it for the money , but RJS does it for the love of the game.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

When working with a new client I will

take them through a 10 minute workout series from off the dribble moves, catch & shoot, one dribble / two dribble pull-up jump shots and know what they can/ what needs to be worked on.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have played basketball at all

levels. High school, College, Professional.

I'm in a mentorship program with NBA Trainer Drew Halen. He has 4 NBA Allstar this past season in Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers, Zach Levine Chicago Bulls, Bradley Beal Washington Wizards, Jason Tatum Boston Celtics. I have worked NBA pre draft workouts this summer in Philadelphia with 2 players. One who is going to be a first round draft pick in Charles Bassey from Western Kentucky.

How did you get started teaching?

I would go to basketball games all the time mostly at the high school I graduated from in the beginning and would pick a player every year that I would help. Seeing how much better they would get only made me go after more kids and then more people started asking me to help there kids. That's how it all started for me.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with players K - NBA players. The biggest thing is making as many people as possible better. Which will only help bring more student athletes.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Philly Live. It's a huge event for high school players to be seen. College coaches from all over America out to scout and watch all the local high school teams in the tri state area compete.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Make sure you do your background on the trainer and make sure your getting someone qualified to help your child. The biggest thing is you gotta build and grow. You get out what you put in. Nothing happens over night.
