About
I am Alexis Awokoya and welcome to my page! I am a South jersey/ Philly based soprano singer and voice teacher. Currently, I am a graduating senior at Rutgers University with a Bachelors in Music in Voice Performance. I have been in many opera productions recently such as Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann, performed in the prestigous Lincoln Center, and partook in Southern Germany's 17th annual International chamber choir competition in Marktoberdorf. I maintain an active schedule as a performer and recitalist. I have been establishing my studio in this area this past year and it has truly been rewarding getting acquainted with my new students!
My mission is to create a dynamic and personal approach that encourage students to discover their potential and confidence through singing. I want to explore their love for singing and accomplish their goals through focus on strengthening breath, improving resonance and expanding range.
It's so valuable to me when a student is able to have that "aha" moment of a concept we've been working on for a while. Suddenly things click, and something that was seemingly impossible is easy. I love when my students are able to notice their own progress, I always encourage their success.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First we sit down and go through the goals my student wants to accomplish out of our lessons. Each lesson serves as a stepping block towards that goal whether is be auditions, roles, musical ensembles, etc. Each lesson has an emphasis on building on proper vocal technique. We will work together to find fun and appropiate songs to add to their repertoire.
