About

Hi, I'm David Dennis. I am the Owner, Director and Basketball Player Development Coach for Crusader Basketball Inc. I am deeply committed to helping basketball players gain new skills and play with confidence. Throughout my career, as a player and a coach, I have always believed the game of basketball is one of life’s finest teachers. I’ve learned so much from the game, and I have tried my very best to translate those lessons of both basketball and life to my players. In my opinion, that is part of my responsibility as a coach .For 18 years Crusader Basketball Inc. allows basketball players within the New York City area to enhance their individual skills while enjoying the wonderful game of basketball. With our dedicated coaches and our passion for the game, our goal is to help dedicated basketball players elevate their skills and playmaking sense so they can become an impact player on their team. Crusader Basketball will continue to teach our 4D’s philosophy as well as accountability, respect, teamwork and the benefits of hard work, both on and off the court. We can change the game, one player at a time.

Make it a great day

Crusader Basketball programs use BASKETBALL AS THE HOOK to expand the horizons of young people. Our programs are designed to teach young people how to compete in athletics at a high level while successfully attending and participating in school. Crusader Basketball programs focus on building athletic skills as well as the development of the entire person. Through practice, drills and game situations help to build character, develop leadership and form mental toughness. Crusader Basketball’s proprietary “4D’s Philosophy”, Desire - Determination - Dedication – Discipline, provide the framework to instill a sense of sportsmanship and self-esteem into players using basketball as the teaching medium. Student athletes learn to work hard, not to take short cuts and have a vision for themselves in life. Finally, we promote and teach students how to have a winning attitude in the midst of current, past and future adversity.

I love the confidence my son now has since working with Crusader Basketball. I’m grateful for the attention he received individually in his lessons as well as camaraderie built with the other children. I especially love the workouts offered to get him active again as well as lessons in skills and techniques. Crusader for life !! :)

My goal is to DETERMINE a players skills set and then to elevate the skills and confidence of that player so they can become an impact player.

I am also the owner and founder of Crusader Basketball Inc., which is a developmental basketball program. Since its inception in 1997, Crusader Basketball has been providing a viable sports alternative to inner city boys ages 7 - 18. In the beginning it was a two-week sleep away summer basketball camp in Putnam Valley NY, which attracted on average 160 students each year. The initial focus was to simply provide a safe and affordable program for inner-city youth. In 2000, the importance of skill development both on and off the court became the primary focus. The program expanded to incorporates skills development in basketball, academics, leadership and citizenship. In 2002 I established the Crusader Basketball Inc. Crusader’s 4D’s formula (Dedication, Desire, Determination, and Discipline) has allowed over 300 players to grow and develop on and off the court as well as take their games to the next level.

I have been teaching in the Archdiocese of New York for the past 20 + years.

Over 20 years of coaching from the Cyo level to Pro-Am level in NYC. I have coached at  St. Raymonds, Riverdale Country School Gauchos, Metro Mavericks, and Crusader Basketball.

I usually go to the parks where many young players out there that are trying to play without the correct tools. They want to be good and they work hard but no one has helped them to learn the CORRECT WAY, to shoot the ball, dribble, finish at the basket....so they don't have the tools that they need to be good or pitentially great.

Not every player is given the same skill set so to improve you need to be willing to practice and play outside your comfort zone. You need to find a coach that will take all the guess work out of your training and push you out of your comfort zone.

Are you going to be dedicated to your game?
