Samuel Magill Cello Studio
About
I have been teaching private cello lessons for 35 years. I taught at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville and the Texas Southern University in Houston. I am on the faculty of the Monmouth Conservatory in Red Bank, NJ. I have been a member of 3 major orchestras since 1978 and am currently a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. I was a runner up or finalist for the Chicago Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, the Cincinnati Symphony, the Chicago Lyric Opera, and the Atlanta Symphony, therefore I have vast knowledge of the orchestral and opera repertoire for cello. I was a pupil of the late Zara Nelsova and Lawrence Lesser, earning my Bachelor's degree from the Peabody Institute and my Master's degree from the Shepherd School at Rice University.
