Tyler Nappo, Trumpet Teacher
About
As a trumpet player with experience in a wide variety styles, I have performed in a number of prestigious venues from Carnegie Hall to the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. I have studied with Billy Hunter (Principal Trumpet, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra) at the Manhattan School of Music. Previously, I attended the Crane School of Music to receive my B.M. in Trumpet Performance, where I studied with Dr. John Ellis. I am also an active performer, having performed with the MSM Chamber Sinfonia, MSM Brass Ensemble, Orchestra of Northern New York, Crane Symphony Orchestra, Frackenpohl Honors Brass Quintet, Northern Symphonic Winds, Crane Wind Ensemble, Crane Latin Ensemble, and Crane Brass Ensemble, among others. As a private trumpet teacher, I have helped students prepare for performances, such as the NYSSMA solo festival, where they have received high marks.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our first lesson will be an assessment of your past musical experience and your future goals. From there, I determine the path we should take. No two students are the same, and I feel that our lessons should be tailored towards the interests and passions of the student, whether that be classical, jazz, pop, composing, or anything else. I will work to make sure each student is aware of what they need to do to succeed and do my best to be available outside of lesson times to answer any questions they have along the way.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BM Music Performance (2013) with Dr. John Ellis from Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY.
