About
I am well versed in classical music, but I specialize in improvisation and contemporary styles. I am able to help students take the cello whatever direction they want to go. There isn't one right path. If you have an interest, I will help you develop it.
I have written 3 books for string instruments, Cello Chords, Beginner String Jams, and Advanced String Jams, that have been utilized by players across the globe.
Helping someone realize their potential as an artist. They don't have to be a professional. They don't need to make money at it. There's nothing greater to for me than when a student is able to express themselves through music in a convincing and emotional way. That's the greatest joy of all.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching during my years studying music at CalArts. I've always had a great ability to share knowledge with people and help them learn.

I have worked with students from 5 years old to 80 years old. From someone who has literally NEVER played any music before to someone who is a professional composer. I've taught a wide range of skill levels, ages, and backgrounds.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who is going to motivate you and encourage music as a creative art form. For me, music isn't a sport. It's a means of communicating emotionally and connecting with something deeper. It won't always be easy, but it's worth it.
