What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Contact me via email and talk about yourself. What do you like to take photos of and what equipment you have. If you would like we can also chat over the phone. I find that hearing the person's voice and demeanor can help. We can discuss a place, time to meet. We will meet at a location you choose, or I can pick a spot I know near you or near what you would like to shoot, people, beach, waterfalls, urban, landscapes, etc.

How did you get started teaching?
I've been working with friends and family and individuals looking to improve their skills for years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I focus on beginners to intermediate students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I worked with a student who wanted to shoot her son's hockey games. By the end of our one hour session, she was no longer shooting on auto settings and was comfortable using her telephoto lens that she had never used.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you talk to the teacher before you book anything to make sure you have a good relationship and feel comfortable. I always say the best equipment you have is your eyes. YOU don't need a PRO level camera to take PRO level photos, you need the knowledge and skills to use your camera to it's best.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your goals with classes? What do you love to look at. What photos do you like to look at? How do you like to learn?
