Music was one of my passions since I was 5. I am offering classes in Indian light classical music either online or at my home in Clifton, NJ. As singing is like my second nature, I would relish teaching it to whoever is interested in learning from me. Do give it a try!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My lessons would be geared towards teaching the basics and going on from there to help them master abstraction. I would design individual lesson plans for each student and focus on teaching the basics and going on to making advancements. I would typically design one hour classes and teach in the specific way my student wants to learn.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned a Masters in Fine Art from Montclair State University. Recently, I have started teaching art. I am working as an assistant to a Teaching Artist in Guggenheim Museum. I am working towards a certificate on Museum Education offered by Guggenheim Museum, New York.

How did you get started teaching?
I volunteered as an assistant to a Teaching Artist in Guggenheim Museum. This got me started.
What types of students have you worked with?
The students I am working with currently are aged 8-12.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I exhibited some of my recent paintings at an art show organized for senior citizens in Livingston New Jersey. I felt good to be able to provide joy to the aged with my splash of bright colors.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The student should review the work of the teaching artist and see whether they like his or her style and skill set.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The student should decide what and how to progress in learning art. The student should note down the questions to ask the teacher regarding the areas to focus on and let the teacher design a way that would match the needs.
