Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We begin by offering a private trial lesson where we are able to give individulaized attention and see how well the student does, as well as gauge their ability. After the initial trial lesson, they are integrated into regular classes with students of their own age and rank.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The master of the school has been training in taekwondo for over 25 years, and has been teaching taekwondo for over 11 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We have many different programs all at different prices. The trial lessons allow us to evaluate a student and determine which program would be best suited for them.
How did you get started teaching?
I had been training in taekwondo for a long time and had been enriched by the many benefits it brings, such as confidence, integirty, respect, self-defense and indomitable spirit. I made the decision that I wanted to share these gifts with others and pass on those traditional pieces of the martial art.
What types of students have you worked with?
Some students we've had have had ADD/ADHD, as well as learning disabilities or autism. We have also worked with older students, in their 60's and 70's. We have also worked with many overweight students who at first thought they would struggle in class and helped them overcome.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Our new school has recently had its first promotional belt testing, and our students all surpassed expectations, making it a very proud memory for our school.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Choose a school that focuses not only on punching and kicking, but also on the students individual growth. Taekwondo is much more than just punching and kicking. It is supposed to instill confidence, respect, discipline, integrity, and the will to never give up in every student. Martial arts is meant to affect your mind, behavior, and entire life, not only your fists. You should choose a school that wants to nurture those aspects in every student.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Consider asking about scheduling and availiability. Make sure to also go over with your teacher any and all physical limitations, health problems, special needs, etc, in order to find a program that best suits your particular conditions.
