I got my first camera when I was 5 years old. At the time, I was living in Nigeria and I had come to New York to visit my parents in America for the first time. My mom had sent me back with a Fisher-Price Perfect Shot children's camera. I've kept a camera by my side ever since. From makeshift studios inside my apartment, to shooting from the sides of rickshaws in India. I've learned how to get amazing results in almost any condition. Those are skills that I can teach to you.

I enjoy helping people document their lives most of all. Recently, some dear relatives passed away. As I was going through old photographs we'd taken, I was reminded of how much we had been through together and what that meant to me. I cherish every moment when my work helps to do that for someone else.
Secondarily, particularly with my portrait work, I enjoy helping people discover the best version of themselves. There are few things in this life as delightful as getting to see the joy on someone's face when they receive an image of themselves that they absolutely adore.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We'll start by getting a sense of for what you already know about photography and what your goals are with photography.
Additionally, we will talk about what kinds of equipment you already have, and what you may think about acquiring depending on your goals. We'll also talk through some DIY options and some trouble shooting.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been shooting since I was five years old. I believe that experience behind the lens is the most important training you can have a photographer. However, in addition to that, I'm a member of the Professional Photographers of America.
Lastly, I have a medical degree, which gives me particular insights into how bodies are shaped, how they move in space, and how to make them look their best in pictures. That insight will be particularly helpful for those of you doing portrait work.

How did you get started teaching?
A few started to really take notice of my pictures and they would come to ask me for help with understanding their cameras and and equipement.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly, I've worked with people who are interested in photography but don't yet know the basics or the formal language of photography. There are a few conceptual things that are crucial for having an intuitive understanding of photography and once of you have those foundations down, you can bend them to achieve the desired effects.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Having great pictures is nice, but if the person isn't approachable, then it can be a frustrating process. Having someone who talks down to you is not going to be helpful.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
