About

I am a teacher with a degree and an experience in public schools, private lessons, and band and orchestral conducting. I offer 30 - 45 minutes geared to students. My lessons include a well rounded approach to learning piano fundamentals and music theory, all geared towards understanding how music speaks through us. I cater to beginners and intermediates.

Music is a language, one that enables us to find and express our deepest iemotions at a level beyond mere words. I have spent my life developing my understanding of this language and how to use it. To be able to awaken that in students and watch it grow is my highest achievement.

Lorin Studios is everything you want. My instructor Buzz is patient, accommodating to my schedule and always makes sure I have a solid foundation before moving onto the next lesson. He built a strong foundation that has allowed me to really excel quickly. The best thing is that he is always willing to go the extra mile to help me. Even outside of the lesson he has helped me with things I was struggling to grasp over the phone so I was ready to move forward for our next lesson. Whether you are a beginner or have been playing for years I cannot recommend Lorin Studios enough they are the best!

Frequently asked questions

If the student is a true beginner, we begin there -- learning the elements of music notation and combining that with beginniing the process of hand and finger placement and developing motor skills.  From there it progresses with elmphasis ALWAYS on these basics so that they become a natural part of the process and avoid costly bad habits.  Pace is determined pretty much by the student.

If the student has some experience, we begin with evaluating the level of experience, noting any remedial processes necessary and then progressing at the individual student's pace.

I am a degreed teacher of instrumental music.  I spent several years teaching instrumental music, grades 7 - 9, 10 years of teaching at the college level and many years in private studio teaching.  In addition, I am a long-time conductor of symphony orchestras and pit bands for musical shows.

Currently, my price is $45.00 (1/2 hour - 45 minutes) at the student's quarters.  $40.00 if the student comes to me in Hamitlon Square, NJ

Most folks offering lessons are competent and you can get a pretty good idea from looking at their experience.  The only way to TRULY know is to try a sample lesson to see if the right chemistry is there.  Without that, it is a shot in the dark.
