Jahmal Chase began his training at The School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati under the direction of Daryl Bjoza, Patricia Rozow and Rene Micheo. During his studies there he had the pleasure of being a featured dancer on the MTV reality show, “Taking The Stage”. Upon graduation, he received a scholarship to continue his training at The Ailey School in New York City. While performing with the Ailey Student Performance Group he was invited to perform in the “Denise Jefferson Celebration” alongside the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and other companies. In 2010, Chase joined the Dance Theatre of Harlem II where he danced for the following three years, performing works such as Flower Festival, The Greatest and Swan Lake (Pas De Trois) to name a few, and working with many notable choreographers. Since then, he has danced with a variety of companies such as The Francesca Harper Project, Forces of Nature, George Faison Universal Dance Experience and Miami Contemporary Dance Company. In July 2015, Chase was thrilled to perform in the revival of the original 1975 Broadway production of “The Wiz” in New York City! After three months with the production, he was invited to perform as a guest artist in the 2015 International Ballet Festival of Miami. He joined MCB School faculty in 2015. In November 2015 Jahmal was thrilled to join the Oakland Ballet Company where he is currently dancing his first season.
