I've lived in New York since I graduated from college, yet am currently in quarantine in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I set up an additional studio when the lockdown began. Online lessons are great right now, or social distancing 6 feet away outdoors, en plein air. My studio is in a beautiful, historic neighborhood with lots to paint.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask what they would like to paint, assess where to begin, typically start with color theory, contour sketching, light and shadow.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The University of Oklahoma qualifies all Art majors to teach by requiring a course called "Public School Art". Though I have never been a public school teacher, I learned the basics, some staple projects, and how to teach from the most wonderful teacher and Artist. I am primarily an Artist and love it when people like my work well enough to ask me how to paint! Some of my happiest times were in the Art room at school with talented Art teachers and Artists.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons are $250 for ten lessons, or ten people. (I don't have ten people, and think 3 students would be a good number, but if you have a group of ten and would like to do a group lesson, the fee would be $250. Otherwise, individuals can sign up, and when it becomes more manageable to add a class, we will do so.)
How did you get started teaching?
Right now, I'm teaching drawing lessons to 10-13 year olds every Wednesday at 3:15p.m. There's room for another student or two in that class, so please join us!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The lessons.com site is a little quick to keep up with, so let's email or phone as soon as possible so we don't get lost in all of the requests and quotes!
