I offer college essay support, writing support, and ACT/PSAT/SAT/GRE tutoring for high-achieving high school students and grad students.

As part of my emphasis on English Language Arts, I also offer tutoring for the lower grades for the annual state ELA exams, the ISEE, the SSAT, the ShSAT, the NMSQT, and TOEFL tutoring.

My students have been accepted into top colleges, including Amherst, Brown, Barnard, Columbia, Cornell, Georgetown, NYU, Oxford, Rice, Stanford, St. Andrew's (Scotland), Tufts, UChicago, UCLA, U-Penn, UNC, USC.

I have a very high level of writing skill, and I can offer a very high level of writing support. My most recent student just told me that her UPenn interviewer commented on her essay and recommended her for admission on the spot. My students often tell me they get nice comments on their essays at their interviews. The same student was admitted to Columbia, with her admissions letter commenting specifically on her writing.

I enjoy helping my students excel and seeing them succeed in reaching their goals.

    A Pleasure to Work With!

    Best and Most Amazing Tutor
    Ms. Olya T is the best tutor we have ever met. In three months, she helped our daughter improve her PSAT Verbal score by 220 points, which placed her in the 99th percentile. Wow! Olya knows how to work with adolescents; our daughter enjoyed her lessons and improved not only her language skills but her self-confidence as a result.     The Best Tutor Ive Ever Worked With!
    Olya has been helping me with my grad school essays and applications. She was diligent and made sure I answered every question perfectly and to a T! She was available any time through text when I needed her for had last minute questions or concerns. She was also just extremely knowledgeable, kind, and patient throughout the long, stressful, process of writing application essays. Olya is truly the best tutor I’ve ever worked with!     Fantastic ACT Reading Tutor!
    Olya worked incredibly well with my daughter. With Olya’s help, my daughter’s ACT Reading score reached 35--a really incredible achievement considering her first score was a 25. Olya is always engaged during the lesson and very patient with my daughter. My daughter is stoked about her Reading score on the ACT.     I evaluate my students' current level, and I make a plan that will meet their goals. I then build on their strengths, while helping develop new skills.  I am always gentle and encouraging of all of my students' efforts. 

    I am a professional writer of commentary and literary essays. I also work as an editor. I taught writing and literature on the college level at UNC, and I have been invited to teach at other colleges. I have a Master's in Comparative Literature from Indiana University, and I have a Bachelor's in English from Brooklyn College. I am also a top tutor at Wyzant, and I help high achieving students applying to selective schools with college essays, SAT/ACT prep, ESL.

    As a student, I always helped my classmates with homework. I taught writing and literature at UNC. I worked as a commentary writer and essayist, and have been invited to teach writing at other schools.

    I work with students at all grade levels from elementary to adult.

    It is important to have a tutor who is knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and is invested in helping you excel. It is important to have someone who inspires you to do your best.
