I liked that lessons were always fun. While my knowledge of music was furthered, there were also many experiences where we could laugh together and have a better teacher-student relationship. Out of all the private teachers I have had, John had the most similar values, beliefs, and way of thinking to me. He is an excellent teacher!

We take our lessons via Skype. My son still remains interested and interactive with John during his lessons. John is very engaged with my son to help him improve with his skills in violin.

I started taking private lessons from John Yuan when I could barely read notes from sheet music and now I am shifting and have learned techniques such as vibrato on my violin. John Yuan has been a great teacher in my experience in playing the violin, he has taught me great practice techniques and tips for improvement. Without my private lessons I know I would have fell behind in orchestra and it would be a lot more difficult, but I know with confidence that if I’m ever struggling with something in orchestra John Yuan can help me out. He also has very cute cats!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For younger students (elementary school), I would like to start with some fun and familiar activities and learn what is the best way for them to study and provide more positive experiences.
