Micah Hood - Trombonist, Composer, Teacher
About
Hello and Welcome!
I'm Micah Hood, trombonist, composer and freelance musician. I've made my living from music for many years and have played with numerous musical groups since I've started my career in music 14 years ago! I've performed with various popular music groups, orchestras, jazz ensembles and experimental groups, such as The Temptations, Jerry Lopez, Darren Cordova y Calor, Martian Funk, UFO Ensemble, and countless others. I'm a member of the award-winning Latin group Baracutanga and a member of the horn section for the popular local rock group The Noms.
I've taught lessons to varying ages of students for many years (14 years). In trombone or compositions lessons, I cover many subjects that are pertinent to the modern musician. From the mechanics of trombone to jazz/funk/rock/Latin/free improvisation. Any interest that the students have, I'll be sure to cater to their need in interesting and engaging ways!
I enjoy getting to know students and seeing their 'eureka' moments. I strive to have students experience a 'eureka' moment every time we have a lesson. I also love learning about students' motivations and finding out what they are passionate about through the artistic medium of music.
