About

I am an award winning painter with many years of experience in traditional paint mediums, printmaking, photography and three dimensional construction. I have discovered that the joy of watching students successfully learn art making is as enjoyable as art making itself.

I have been painting for thirty plus years and have won many awards and have exhibited in galleries. When I stated to paint, I thought to myself, “I can’t do this. I have no talent” I nevertheless learned techniques which, with practice, soon yielded tangible results. Each little lesson learned pushed me to try new things as I followed my curiosity and passion.

I can help you HAVE FUN making art! Although strategies for successful marketing necessarily depend upon a “final product,” my orientation is to teach basic technical skills with an eye towards experimentation, and enjoyment of the art making process. I can also share with you my insights for successful marketing. I provide the same emphasis in my film and digital photography instruction.

I have an art studio complete with supplies for painting in watercolor, acrylic, oil painting and pastel. I can accommodate up to six students. But I am also happy with one-on-one instruction. I have experience painting in all of these mediums.l and I am an experienced photographer and owned my own darkroom for years. My strengths lie in teaching composition and color theory.

I spend time with them to listen to their needs and goals. I then askthem if they have experience and if so what kind of experience. I ask to see whether they have any work to show me. I then briefly explain my experience and show them examples of my art work. We then decide if my services will be useful to the student. If we agree that my services are useful, I ask the student more specific questions concerning short term goals that can be put into a concrete plan of action
