Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Belly dance is for every BODY! In my beginner level courses you will learn the fundamental movements of belly dance to incorporate movement into your daily fitness and movement routine. Not a beginner? Moves can be modified for any experience level. There's only one rule- have fun! Participants of all ages and fitness levels are welcome.

I have 15 years of belly dance experience in traditional Egyptian and American Cabaret styles of Belly Dance and am the founder of New Mexico Belly Dance.
I am a member of Farfesha, an internationally recognized Belly Dance troupe.
Some international instructors I have studied with include Aziza (Canada), Ansuya, Amaya, Nourhan Sharif, Kamala Almanzar, and Cory Zamora.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
I am a forever student of the art form and teaching has allowed me to not only help others discover Belly Dance but to broaden my own exploration of the dance through instruction.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages and fitness levels. Belly Dance is for everyBODY!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have competed nationally at the Ya Halla Belly Dance competition in Gapevine, Texas!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
A student should not be afraid to explore and use their own bodies as expression. Belly Dance can make you feel vulnerable, self-concious or just plain funny. Your belly dance class should be a welcoming and supportive place to explore these feelings. I strive to create a welcoming and inclusive community where dancers will find opportunities to explore the beautiful art of Belly Dance.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would definitely talk to your teacher about any injuries or health concerns. The wonderful thing about Belly Dance is that it is low impact and almost any move can be modified to fit your abilities.
