My goal is for each student to leave the classroom feeling brave, confident and excited to move one step closer to becoming an accomplished artist. I have been a fiber artist and watercolor artist for over 25 years and began teaching in both mediums in 2009. I completed the Certificate Programs in Fine Arts and Surface and Textile Design at Otis School of Art & design in Los Angeles. I continued courses at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena California. My textile pieces have received national and international awards and have appeared in national publicaitons. my website is patrollie.com and my gallery showcases several of my award winning work.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin by understanding their goals for taking the class. It is important for me to communicate to them my teaching style and my goals. I want to know what inspired them.

I provide all materials at a small fee to ensure that the students are learning with the best tools. Poor quality tools can affect the student's work. I support my students in all ways possible to ensure their success. I have taught in several different geographical locations which affects pricing. My philosphy is to make it an affordable price for everyone.
How did you get started teaching?
I was approached my local organizations and asked to lecture and provide workshops.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide range of students from young artists age 10 to senior groups. I have worked with incarcerated men in controlled settings as well.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find an instructor who's teching style is a match for how you learn a new skill.
