About
I've been a full-time artist since 1998, and have lived and painted in the UK, Europe and the USA (as well as other countries such as Morocco, where I traveled and have painted from those travels). I can bring my students an interest in both figurative and landscape oil painting, both in the studio and pleinaire. I discovered, while living in Glenfinnan, Scotland, that I had a talent for teaching non-artists and budding artists to paint in oil, and loved doing it. I found that I could encourage my students to explore expression without imprinting my own expressionist/impressionist style on their style.
REFERRALS FROM OTHER STUDENTS OF GAIL'S:
"I had no idea that the human face had so many colours. Thanks to Gail, I see different hues, tonesand shades that I didn't before!" Fiona Gibson, Glenfinnan, Scotland
"Tuesday evening 6:45 pm would be my favorite time! With my paint brushes and palette knives all packed, I would head to Gail's art class for 2 hours of pure relaxation and where my creative juices would be allowed to flow.
When I first started painting I was nervous, had zero self conficence and my first attempt was just that, an attempt at something that sort of resembled paint on canvas. Through Gail's relaxed method of teaching, I soon became aware of colours and shapes. Gail would guide me through my many painting mishaps and help me look further into my work."Make every stroke count" and "paint what you see" were words of wisdom that Gail would repeat; and I say these to myself each and every time I put paint near a canvas.
I went from a complete beginner to someone who is confident in letting the world see what I can do. Professional I am most certainly not, BUT by attending Gail's workshops, I have been given the tools and expert guidance to create my own little masterpieces." Catriona Hunter, Campbell River, Canada - formerly Glenfinnan, Scotland
I can't imagine not being an artist for my livlihood. I am living my passion. When I have a student, I love watching their own passion ignite.
