About
We are full service art center. We teach to all ages and skill levels. We have gallery space for local artists, a full ceramics studio and we hold paint and sip events. We are the only studio like this in the area we live.
Art matters in so many ways and contributes to the lives of society and cultures globally. Art is a laguage free, worldwide and ageless "thing" if you will that anyone can engage in and with. With the changing climate in schools where students are encouraged to own their education, art and the other creative sectors are finally being recognized for their potential and limitless power on the world platform. I love the classroom "aha" moments where a student who thinks they have no creativity learns that they do indeed possess a creative vein. Sharing what I know, expsoing students to all sorts of art disciplines & medias, and watching my students grow creatively is very rewarding as I grow right along with them. I've been teaching and sharing art over 25 years with the last 8 in a private college prep school in California as head of the art department. I wrote 9 curriculums that were UC approved and still in use today. I hold an MFA in sculpture but dabble in almost all the other disclines like painting (acrylic & watercolor), drawing, printmaking, mixed media and several forms of sculpture from ceramics, welding, stone carving to foundry work. I have work spanning from Alaska to Australia and up and down the west coast. Art is my passion and simply put I love sharing what I know and do creatively. You can see my work along with some of AP students' work on Pinterest at coronaart627 and my studio website is www.carsonvalleyart.com

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My background is art education for a private school. I always do a fun activity that’s is stress free in the first day which helps my student and I get to know each other.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a BFA from the University of Alaska Anchorage in schulpture with a minor in drawing, I also have an MFA from the Academy of Art San Francisco. I have taught traditionally for the past 8 years a private Christian college preparatory high school where I was head of the art department and wrote 9 curriculum that was UC approved and still being used. I have taught privately over the past 25 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
It depends on what I'm teaching and if I'm providing materials. If it's all online my price is $35.00 per hour with a 2 hour minimum at least twice a week. There is a sibling discount.
If I am providing materials the fee is $50/hr same minimums as above.
How did you get started teaching?
Actually it was quite accidentaly. A colleague at a previous job knew I was a creative and approached me about teaching to her 2 daughters. I was very flattered and accepted. I discovered that I enjoy the classroom experience and continued to teach privately and then for the past 8 years in a traditional classroom which was very rewarding.
