About

( If you want lesson info skip to bottom)

From the moment the crowd stood on their feet, roars of applause filled the beautiful space, tears fell down my cheeks and upon my overjoyous smile. The wave of overwhelming passion and extreme love came over me. From that moment, in the great Smith Center Theater, I knew right then and there, this is what I was meant to do. A great composer once answered the question, “Who should do music?” He replied: “there is only one kind of person who should do music and that is someone who can’t stand doing anything else.” After being introduced to Musical Theatre, I didn’t realize that I had just began to find own voice. My name is Emily Clements and I am an aspiring singer for the professional world. I've spent my last four years at Las Vegas Academy where I have been given countless opportunities for music. This past year has been most memorable. I've made it to the top level at solo and ensemble -”Command” which includes the top ten percent of the state. It was a thrilling journey. I've taught voice at Positively Arts Foundaton's Broadway Dreamers camp. I now atten UNLV as a Vocal Performance major. I've been in Madama Butterfly the Opera, Aida the Musical, Soap Operreta time of our lives Musical, Harry Potter the musical, Hooray for Hollywood, and more. ( I am a coluraturia Soprano.)

I love teaching, I love helping them improve their voice with techniques, healthy warm ups, and great rep!

Each week we will work on your technique for the first ten minutes into your lesson. Warming up is essential to singing! Not only does it improve your technique and strength your voice but it also is the healthiest way to start singing. It's like going to the gym, you have to stretch before a big work out. Singing is like running a marathon for those two muscles. Next we'll start your music or repitore. I love working with teens who also love what they sing! So I'm not one of those coaches who will make you sing something you absoutely hate. You will need to do certain songs now and then to strengthn your voice that may not be the funnest, but you will always have music you'll love and enjoy and that will benefit you as well! For my Musical theatre students:

We can work on Singing and Acting through the song. For technique we will do classical and musical theatre legit and belt. Classical is to protect your voice and keep it healthy and strong. We will talk about storytelling, meaning behind the song and where the character stands in the musical and relation to you. Why do we sing? Because something so big is happening, that speaking it isn't any good anymore! Music speaks louder than words. We will also work on an art song or two if wanted to expand your repitore book and to sustain strong breath support while singing!

Opera students:

We will work on a very classical technique. We can work on diction and foreign languages as well. Also a bit of storytelling through the piece. We will either start with Art songs or Arias depending on where you are at currently.

Both:

Read both discriptions if you want to study both. We will do warmups of mixed styles then followed by one art song/aria and one Musical theatre or standard. I can do once ortwice a week for lessons. Once you have mastered the repitore we will move on to new music! If you have any passions for certain songs you are free to bring them in and we can take a look and work on it! Also, if I have enough students up to five, we will do a little recital at the end of every two months for performance experience and mastery of the music!

I'm very excited to start lessons! Currently I have one student, susan. She's been once a week with me.

I also have a piano at both locations. I have a place around Sahara and Torrey Pines. The other is Fort apatche and Tropicana area. Or I can travel to you as long as you have a Piano or Keyboard. Also I am free to meet at UNLV and we can use one of the practice rooms with a piano for the lesson.

Lessons are 60 mins and I charge a cheap price of $20.(Older vocal professionals charg anywhere from 45-80$ per hour. )

If I drive to you it may cost 5$ extra dollars for gas IF you are farther than 15 mins away.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns and we will work something out! :) Thanks !

Emily is an amazing vocal teacher! She is so caring and kind and truly enjoys helping you grow as a singer. You learn so much with just one lesson its crazy how much you learn! She is also not one of those teachers who pressures you until you get something, shes the kind of teacher who encourages you. She is truly an incredible vocal teacher and if you are considering getting lessons, I definitely 100% recommend you choose Emily!!

Frequently asked questions

First note: If you do not have pitch I am not the teacher for you. If you have some experience reading that's perfect! If not don't worry you will learn!

We will start with warm ups for the first 5-10 minutes of every lesson! It's for good technique and a strong/healthy voice!

We will then learn new music! You'll recieve two songs at a time to work on.

When you are comfortable we will start after warming up with you singing them for me so I can give constructive critisim and help improve anything that needs help in the music.

At the end of every two months we'll do a mini performance in front of parents. friends, etc where you can have a chance to show what you got! It is optional.

I charge 20-30$ an hour. I am flexible.

Usually beginners to advanced!
