Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To make sure that they know they can create anything they want. Art is about flow. Chopstick art can be fun and there are no mistakes. Just keep it rolling.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Taught chopstick art for CANO afterschool programmes, retirement homes and art studios.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30 per person. They will get 1 canvas, but can choose from 2 different canvas sizes (sizes vary) and endless acrylic colour choices. I also provide brushes, chopsticks, winecork and toothpicks. Chopstick they can take home.
How did you get started teaching?
I was asked to teach from someone seeing my artwork at a festival.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with people ages 3 yrs to 90 yrs old.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have many events I am fond of because I find joy watching the children and older adults really enjoy creating and creating with a different style not often taught.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Speaking to the artist in person or over the phone. It is great to get a feel for the personality so that it results in a great experience for students and teacher as well. Great teacher=engaged students.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What paints used? What time frame are they working with? Supplies needed or brought to event. Theme? Creation style?
