Kim makes the lesson very understandable. Always makes me feel like I can ask anything without feeling stupid. He has helped my game in so many ways. My mechanics were very off and he helped me correct that. My game has definitely improved. If you are looking to improve your game, he is a great instructor.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will build an individualized plan after a brief assessment to help the student reach their personal goals. Whether with in-person lessons or live online sessions, coaching will be provided based on the isolated weaknesses we collectively decide to work on, and homework will be assigned for continued work towards mastery between lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
PBIA Accredited Instructor Training Academy, PBIA Master Instructor, ACS Level 4 Instructor, Senior Instructor at Billiard University, Kamui Authorized Tips Installer, Background Certified.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
As a kid I wanted to take pool lessons but there wasn't anybody in my area providing them. I was told the only way to learn was to play better players and figure it out. That wasn't good enough for me. If I wanted to be an astronaut I can go to school. Learn Japanese, someone could teach me. Why not pool? So I've made up my life's mission to provide high quality instruction to anybody, anywhere. Whether in person or with live video chat online sessions, I hope to inspire future billiard instructors. And as one of the limited number of instructors in the world who can certify other instructors, I am able to do just that for generations to come.
What types of students have you worked with?
From novices to pros and everywhere in between. Several national and world champion pool players. Special education and handicapable students. Children and senior citizens. The only student I cannot help is the one who does not want to learn.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In April 2023, one of my billiard students who has also certified under me to provide billiard instruction, took third place in APA Nationals for the purple tier (SL7 bracket).
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Certified billiards instructors are trained to work with all body types and shooting mechanics. On the contrary, high level pool players without this training can provide the best advice they can based on the way that they shoot but without the training necessary to individualize it to the person, trying to get another person to shoot the way that the teacher does, will not lead to good results. This is why it is important to work with a trained instructor to help you shoot your best game, not for you to mimic someone else's.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Unlike other sports, good billiard instruction does not require student and coach to be next to each other. If you cannot find a billiard instructor in your area for in person lessons, don't count out live online sessions without trying them first.
