Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We would meet informally so I could find out exactly what the student wants to learn and what the student has for equipment so I can begin to prepare the lesson plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a professional photographer trained in digital photography and digital post-processing. (Lightroom and Photoshop)
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing depends on the distance I have to travel and the needs of the student. For example, if you are a beginner or more advanced or if we are doing classroom work or field work.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching beginner photo classes for years through Two Rivers Photography Club and the Waterman Conservation Education Center.
What types of students have you worked with?
Anywhere between beginner and professional. But beginners are the most fun!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do not judge a teacher by how much expensive equipment they own. Judge them by looking at their body of work.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Am I ready to commit my time and energy to learning the basics of photography? I don't want you to waste your time or money if you're not able to put the effort into the lessons.
