Kimberly Spruill Training
About
As a former student athlete at St. John's University and a player who only started at the age of 13, I'm very passionate about seeing the potential in athletes and giving them the resources to become the best player they can be regardless of their starting point.
I love sharing my knowledge and skills with players. It's wonderful as a trainer to see athletes enhance their skillset and grow as overall players.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first training session with a player involves assesing their skillset and determining which areas they need development in most. I take them through various drills that evaulate shooting, ball handling, speed/agility, footwork, etc.
I sit with the players and discuss their long and short terms goals as an athlete and what they would like to get out of their training. We will then set up a schedule depending on need and I will then give players workouts to complete throughout the week.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I played varsity basketball for 4 years at Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC. As a sophomore at St. John's University, I walked onto the women's basketball team earning a full ride scholarship. I only played 2 seasons as I wanted to focus on my education and future career path. Fortunately in my final season my team one the Big East Championship and went on to compete in the NCAA tournament.
I have expereince training players from age 7 all the way up to college athletes.
How did you get started teaching?
I first started training alongside my personal trainer in North Carolina. Before and after my personal training sessions, I assisted my trainer who would usually have 20 players in a session. I focused on developing fundamental skills for players ages 7-13. I've trained players on and off for the last few years in specific developmental areas.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with players from ages 7 all the way to college and professional players.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire a trainer who sees your potential. Make sure your training knows exactly what you're trying to accomplish with your training.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What areas of your game that you are uncomfortable with (shooting off the dribble, dribble with a defender on you, etc.)
What are the areas of your game you work on most or least?
What are some of your short term goals (increase playing time, make varsity, look scout ready for upcoming summer circuits)?
What are some of your long term goals (get a collegiate athletic scholarship, go pro)?
