Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The most important question starts with "Why do you want to dance?" - this helps us determine the lesson style and which teacher is most suitable for you.
After a few additonal basic questions, we set up a time/day and location (Studio, Virtual, Home).
Virtual Lessons have a lower fee, but are not as productive as in-person lessons due to limitations.
We start lessons with a stretch and warmup, teach technique and moves, and end with tips and pointers on what to train on your own time inbetween lessons.
We recommend weekly classes for hobbiest, and 2-3x a week for aspiring professionals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All of our dance teachers have 15+ years of dance experience which includes classes, workshops, and self-training.
As street dance styles are relatively new (less then 50 years), there are very few schools training in these styles (for now!)
Breaking has just been accepted as an Olympic Sport and we expect to see a surge in educational interest!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Prices are determined by:
‣Length of lesson (45 minutes or 1 Hour)
‣Location (Studio, In-Home, or Virtual)
‣Amount of Lessons (Packages of 5, 10, & 20 Lessons availble for discounted rates)
Prices start at $60/Virtual & $85/Studio per hour with our standard 10 Lesson Package.
What types of students have you worked with?
From Hobbiest to Aspiring Professionals, ages 5+
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We recently were filmed for ChungHa's new song release 'Dream of you' by 88 Rising in the heart of Times Square.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Great dancers don't always make great teachers!
We offer a one-time trial class for a discounted rate so you can make sure we are a good fit for you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
‣What are your goals in learning dance?
‣Hip-Hop & Break Dance are a wildly misused term, having a video example of what you are interested in learning helps a lot!
(Examples of styles: Choreo Hip-Hop, Freestyle Hip-Hop, Old School Hip-Hop, Street Jazz, Break Dance aka Bboying/Bgirling, House, Popping, Locking, Waving, etc)
