How did you get started teaching?
Someone offered me a job because he knew I was seeking employment. I Never wanted to be an instructor/teacher, here I am 20 years later with my own driving school.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types of students, from age 16 years old to 76 years old. Beginners to students with years of experience. Students from different countries, race and culture. Any student with a NYS learners permit and can understand the English language.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Before signing-up for a package, take one lesson to see if that instructor is the right person to teach you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Every instructor/teacher should be highly recommended (best if it's from someone you know). Another person experience is not your own. Before signing up, make sure you see an NYSDMV instructors card for that instructor, create a check list of what you expect an instructor to be.
After one lesson
1. Did the instructor made me comfortable ?
2. Is the instructor knowledgeable enough and can identify the level of my driving ability.
Etc.
Nobody's perfect but make sure that instructor/teacher is the one for you.
