About
你好! I have been tutoring Chinese for almost four years, some of it has been volunteer work and a bit has been through lessons.com, where I connect with clients and then generally move communication off the site. I am extremely passionate about language learning, and can speak English, Chinese, Spanish, and Arabic. English and Chinese are my best languages. I am trying to learn and teach in as many languages as possible because I believe worldly communication is a vital skill in many fields of work but also just for life. Learning one language makes it so much easier to learn the next, especially if you start with one as difficult as Chinese. Start your language learning journey today!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will first asses where they are in Chinese learning (if they are not a beginner) and then we can work from there with interactive Google Slides lessons, a bit of homework, games, and eventually quizzes. For pure beginners, we are going to start with basic topics and phrases. I integrate a lot of speaking to keep new students interested, as well as listening to music, writing basic characters, short readings, and games.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been both peer tutoring (volunteer in high school) and tutoring children in Chinese for years. I have also worked with children working birthday parties and have helped friends my age and younger study.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30-40 an hour but definitely negotiable.
How did you get started teaching?
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Definitely someone who has known Mandarin since a young age or is a native speaker. I have been learning since I was one and a half years old. I also believe that any teacher should be understanding and should not assign more work than a student is capable of.
