About
Originally from Colorado, I received a Bachelor of Music Performance at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. I hold two Master of Music degrees from New York University, Steinhardt. In 2008 I started teaching guitar and recorder for two sisters who lived across the street. Since then I have taught flute for music minors in college, retirees and saxophone players looking to improve their flute technique. I am familiar with several flutes, including the concert flute, alto flute and ocarina.
As a performer, I have played my flutes in a wide range of settings. In Denver, I premiered works for solo flute, flute duet and flute with electronics at Dazzle Restaurant. I also frequented the same venue for their weekly jazz jam session. While I was in Seattle, I was fortunate to play free music at the Chapel Performance Space with Eric Barber, and at Spite House with Stephen Fandrich. In 2016, I performed Anamnese by Hiromi Watanabe at Abrons Arts Center in Manhattan, and in 2019 I performed with members of the New York Composers Circle at the National Opera Center. That same year, I had the opportunity to perform in Aarzu, an experimental dance show by Aliya Kerim at Under St. Marks Theatre. My album for jazz quintet was premiered in November 2018 at Williamsburg Music Center in Brooklyn.
I am flexible, open minded and happy to tailor my services to the interests and learning style of the student. All ages and experience levels welcome.
I love music and I love teaching. I have a passion for passing on my knowledge and making people happy.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with a free lesson so the student can decide if it is a good fit. I ask questions about the student's interests and if they have played anything before. If so, I ask for a demonstration to assess the playing experience of the student. I answer any questions the student may have. If the student wishes to continue, all lessons thereafter are tailored to the interests and experience of the player.
