About

Greetings! I'm Andrew, a guitarist and educator originally from New Orleans, LA. After graduating from NOCCA in 2008, I studied Jazz Performance and Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music, graduating in 2012.

Since then, I’ve performed internationally at major festivals and built a professional career in New Orleans, Boston, and New York City.

As a teacher, I work with guitarists at every level—from beginners learning fundamentals to advanced players refining their artistry.

My specialties include jazz, blues, rock, funk, R&B, folk, country, and Latin styles, as well as improvisation, chord melody, 7-string jazz guitar, music theory, and recording.

My teaching style is tailored to each individuals particular skill level, technical proficiency, musical interests, and personal goals. My approach balances technical discipline with musical creativity, helping students develop not just technical skills, but a deeper understanding of the guitar and music as a whole.

I teach a core set of technical fundamentals and music literacy curriculum that comprises about 1/3 of each lesson, and the rest revolves around music that you are interested in learning––which could be anything from learning to strum some Van Morrison, play a Steve Vai guitar solo, or improvise over Giant Steps.

Learning music that you love in conjunction with theoretical concepts and technical skills creates a web of understanding that gives you an entryway into the world of music as a participant and not just a spectator, giving you a lifelong skill that you can always come back to.

Andrew is knowledgeable, patient, and easy to work with, and I’ve seen real improvement since starting. He adjusts the lessons to what you actually need instead of following a one-size-fits-all approach. Would absolutely recommend.

I’ve been taking classes with Andrew for over a year and I can now play over 15 songs that I sometimes play live at my gig. It is my first time taking guitar classes and I now understand the guitar and music overall. Great teacher that will tackle anything you want to learn to do with the instrument! I strongly recommend taking his classes !

When I first went to a music store to take guitar lessons, I was nervous being a novice. The person at the front desk, who arranged these sessions, told me she was going to assign me to the best teacher they had. Boy, was she right! He is extremely patient, kind, generous in his knowledge and just a wonderful teacher. In only two months he taught me at least 4 complete songs and helped guide me through a lesson book. I loved my sessions with Andrew and looked forward to every week when I knew I would learn something exciting and new.

    Frequently asked questions

My approach is rooted in a balance of structure and flexibility. Every student follows a core curriculum that builds essential technique, fretboard knowledge, music theory, and reading skills. This ensures consistent growth and musical literacy. Beyond that foundation, lessons are tailored to each student’s goals and interests—whether that means strumming classic songs, mastering improvisation, or refining advanced jazz harmony. Students are guided through a personalized path of study, with lessons and materials matched to their abilities to support steady growth and lasting improvement.
