In 2009-10, as a junior, Darnell played in all 29 games while making 21 starts and averaging 26.4 minutes of action per game. He led the team in rebounding, averaging 7.0 boards per game and also blocks with 41.

He averaged 7.7 points per game to go along with 37 assists and 35 steals.

Darnell helped lead team to a second straight CUNYAC title and NCAA Tournament appearance.
