I'm a working artist living in Brooklyn. I'm currently the resident artist and art coordinator and painting techer for Cult Party NYC, a boutique and gallery in Bushwick Brooklyn. I've been selling my work for 20 years (since i was 18 years old), am passionate about it, love to do it and happy to share my how to's with you! I took this class while I was taking a long vacation in NYC this past couple of weeks visiting a friend. A group of us decided to do something new and found this art class. I never considered myself having any talent in art and was rather shy about my abilities. Al was wonderful! She encouraged me and really helped in bringing out the creativity in me in a very laid back, fun, and welcoming environment. It was a wonderful experience and now I have a custom/self-made souvenir hanging on my wall! I strongly recommend to people from all backgrounds/experience levels.

Al is a wonderful, talented, patient teacher. She will take the time to teach you the basics and use those skills create more advanced paintings. You can tell she really loves what she does, and I had a great time painting and learning from her.

Frequently asked questions

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

It depends. For group painting classes, i provide things like canvas, brushes and paint its 30 dollars for a 1.5 hour class. For one on one its 25 an hour (2 hr minimum prferred)

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I went to The School of Visual Arts, after that I studied techniques under painter Harry Folsom. In the begning as a child and yong adult I was taught mostly by my grandmother. i am currently a working artist.

What types of students have you worked with?

I mostly teach adults (mostly post grad but some college age on occasion) who age ranges widely. I am open to tech children too.
