Breaking down art creation into simple steps leading to rapid improvement is what I do!
I've taught art classes for 10 years including Workshops at the Art Students League. In addition, I've been honored by the Portrait Society of America and my methods have been featured in American Artist Workshop magazine and the Art of the Portrait publication.
I have been awarded numerous prizes and my work has been exhibited at the Salmagundi Club, the National Arts Club and Edward Hopper House among others.
The greatest pleasure I have is seeing students grasp new techniques and apply them to their own art in ways that take their art to a new level! In addition, it's extremely rewarding to see the joy on student's faces as their work improves.
Hearing of spectacular results such as their work appearing in art shows and winning their own awards is another feature that makes teaching so rewarding.

My daughter loves her first two days. Already seeing major improvement.
I’ve had classes with Rob in an art league class setting, a small private in-home group setting, and also private one to one instruction in his studio. My painting skills really took off under his direction. With Rob’s help I began to actually see the subject and the lighting with different eyes. What I especially appreciate about Rob’s style of teaching is his special ability to meet each student where they are. He’s working to help each student to their next step, rather than trying to teach them to replicate his works. I highly recommended Rob as a portrait art instructor.
Rob is a very talented, patient and knowledgeable teacher. He is very dediacted to his students and loved by all.
Rob has a wealth of knowledge that he offers to his students in a very patient and clear manner .
